From the classroom to Copilot.

I'm Kamille Rigsby Lee, a learning experience designer in Atlanta. I spent nearly a decade teaching middle school English before I ever designed for adults. Today I help people learn to work alongside AI, and I still start every project the way I started every lesson: with the learner.

I wouldn't go back to the classroom. But I wouldn't change a thing.

I joined Teach For America and walked into Room G110 to teach Pre-AP Language Arts and Reading. I coached the step team, volleyball, and girls' soccer. I learned that no one learns from content alone. They learn from people who see them.

That lesson came with me into corporate learning, through healthcare, educational publishing, and now financial services. The audiences changed. The work didn't. I still look for the hook, the story, and the moment someone realizes they can do it.

What the classroom taught me

Start with the learner, not the content.

Twenty-eight sixth graders taught me that the same lesson lands differently for every person in the room.

Every good lesson opens with a hook. So does every good course, article, and video.

Learning sticks when people practice.

Kids don't learn to write by watching me write. Adults don't learn new tools by watching a demo.
